NWS Spotter Talk Scheduled for Residents of Red Willow County Nebraska

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Goodland and Red Willow County Emergency Management invite you to attend a Storm Spotter Class in McCook. This year’s training will be held Wednesday, March 14th at 6:30 pm CDT at the Heritage Senior Center (1312 W 5th Street).

The class is free of charge and open to anyone with an interest in High Plains weather. This severe weather program is conducted only once a year in Red Willow County so consider attending this fun and educational training in McCook.

For this spotter season, we worked to revitalize portions of the presentation, including the addition of new pictures and videos, interactive activities to practice reporting, and live audience polling to test your knowledge on key storm spotting elements. Don’t forget to bring your cell phones because the polling software allows you to send in your responses anonymously via text messaging. The intention of the poll questions is to facilitate discussion, support a group learning environment, and help us clarify problematic weather topics.

Come and see our fresh presentation focused on keeping you safe and working together to protect our community! By sharing vital information with each other, the warnings we issue will provide the best possible information, keeping you, your family, and your neighbors safe. NWS Goodland is working to build a Weather-Ready Nation where all are prepared for the day disaster strikes. Please help our community achieve this goal!

For more information, contact NWS Goodland at (785) 899-7119. A complete listing of the 2018 Spotter Training Schedule across the Tri-State Area is available on the Goodland NWS web page:
